What do Amityville Horror and Superman’s Lois Lane have in common? Margot Kidder! The Canadian actress will join us in Bonn for FearCon in October 2017.
She appeared in Brian De Palma’s cult thriller Sisters and it was a huge critical success. The film branded Margot as a major talent, and in the following years she starred in a string of critically acclaimed pictures, such as Jessy – Black Christmas, The Great Waldo Pepper, 92 in the Shade – directed by Thomas McGuane, who was also her husband for a brief period – and a somewhat prophetic tale of self-resurrection, The Reincarnation of Peter Proud.
After doing a reading of Lois Lane for the 1978 superhero film Superman: The Movie, Kidder was flown to England by Richard Donner for screen-tests. Donner ultimately cast Kidder in the role, which would become her most iconic.
After the success of Superman she took on more intense roles, such as Amityville Horror and Willie & Phil. After that, Margot did numerous films, television and theater work throughout the 1980s, including Superman IV – The Quest for Peace. In 2016 she played in The Red Maple Leaf.
